The first step when providing root canal treatment is to take digital X-rays of the infected tooth so that we can obtain an inside look at the infection. We then begin preparing the tooth for the procedure by placing a rubber sheet around it. This is called a dental dam, and it will keep the tooth dry and prevent the infection from spreading.
Using advanced tools, we will carefully access the inside of the tooth from the top. From there, we will clean out any bacteria and decay. An antimicrobial liquid will then be applied to flush out the inner structure and the root canals leading to the jawbone. We will then apply medicated fillings to provide strength and to encourage healing. To finish, a dental crown will cap the structure so that any breakages and fractures are prevented.
