The thought of having a mouthful of metal brackets and wires for a couple of years can be very unpleasant. So, for patients who have always been self-conscious and uncertain about getting braces, there is good news!

Invisalign clear aligners are now the perfect alternative to traditional metal braces. It offers the same straightening effects but without the usual hassles associated with the conventional approach. Invisalign is a removable appliance that makes it possible for patients to eat or drink foods that are usually restricted when wearing braces. The aligners are made from clear thermoplastic materials so patients can expect that there are no metal brackets or wires that can irritate their gums and the other soft tissues in the mouth. One added benefit of the clear aligner treatment is, the duration of wearing the orthodontic appliance can be reduced!

Invisalign

We at Blooming Family Dental took advantage of the benefits of Invisalign, so we offer this treatment to our patients who want to straighten their teeth. We assure our patients that the procedure would provide favorable outcomes without having to experience the usual hassles of metal braces. Here is the step by step process on how Invisalign works:

Consultation

The dentist will take x-rays and photographs of the teeth for them to evaluate if a patient is qualified to undergo the procedure. Patients during this time are free to ask the things that they should expect with Invisalign.

Treatment plan

If the patient is a good candidate for the procedure, the dentist would then take impressions of the teeth to use it as the guide for the customized treatment plan. They may use a 3D image of the teeth to construct the different stages of the teeth’s position. The dentist would not move the teeth altogether; instead, they only straighten it by batches.

Wearing the aligner

Once the dentist gives the aligners, patients are to wear it every day for at least 20 to 22 hours. Although it can be easily removed, patients should not leave them out for too long to make the treatment work effectively.

A new set of aligners

The dentist provides the aligner by set and sequence ahead, so patients are responsible for switching it out as the dentist recommends. An additional set of aligners will also be provided throughout the treatment duration.

Checkups every four to six weeks

Although the treatment does not require any adjustments, the dentist would still need to see the patient and check the progress of their orthodontic treatment. They may also assess if there are any adjustments needed to the formulated treatment plan.

Proper Hygiene

During and after the treatment, it is essential to maintain healthy oral hygiene practices. Maintaining regular dental cleanings every six months is also ideal to keep the overall oral health in top shape.

When the treatment is complete, patients are free to smile to their heart’s content as Invisalign gave them renewed confidence!
