Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we quickly learned that the virus travels through air and surfaces. One study found that the virus lives in the air for up to 3 hours.

We have a rigorous Patient Screening Protocol in place to minimize the chance that anyone suspected of having the virus enters our office. However, you cannot wear a mask in the dental chair, and no screening can catch everything. In response, Blooming Family Dental committed to a new Air Purifier Protocol to minimize any particles in the air and to make our team and patients feel safe at all times, so you can breathe with confidence.

Medical-Grade Air Purifiers at Blooming Family Dental

First, we started researching for the best air purifier that was capable of filtering the COVID-19 virus. Most air purifiers use HEPA filters which are great but can only filter up to 0.3 microns, and the COVID-19 virus is 0.125 microns. We decided to invest in medical-grade air purifiers that use H-13 HEPA filters able to filter 0.1 microns from a woman and veteran, family-owned USA based company, Medify Air.

Air Purifier Selection and Placement

All Rooms: MA-25

We invested in the MA-25 models which can clean 260 sqf every 15 minutes for every single one of our 80 sqf 5 treatment rooms and other rooms in our office. Our protocol is to clean the air of each room for 15 minutes before a patient enters the room.

This means every time you step into a treatment room, the air would have been Triple-Washed by the filter that captures coronavirus. Triple-washed is is how we like our lettuce and treatment rooms!

General Area: MA-112

We invested in the MA-112 model for our general waiting area. This unit can clean 1,250 sqf in 15 minutes, and our entire office is 1,918 sqf, so with the other 8 smaller air purifiers, think this is plenty powerful. This machine also detects any sign of air contamination and automatically speeds up the fan to improve the air quality.

The larger MA-112 unit coverage is in purple, and the smaller MA-25 unit coverage is in green. As you can see, we have planned to cover every single important area of our office that you or our team members may spend time in without a mask.

What you can expect

We plan to maximize the use of our treatment rooms and space out the schedule to allow for the 15-minute breaks to Triple-wash the air. This means that we will try our best to run on time, and not run behind.

We need your help to stay on time so we can clean the air for the next patient. We would like to ask you to please:

  1. Please provide new or updated insurance information at least 1 week before your appointment
  2. Fill out all forms, including the COVID-19 Questionnaire at least 2 days before your appointment (so you don’t have to fill them out at the office)
  3. Arrive 10 minutes early, please stay in your car and give us a call at 973-787-8437 or text us at 973-975-0937.
